Research peptide raw material
Semax Raw Material Supplier
Semax is the heptapeptide Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, 813.9 g/mol, offered as research-use raw powder from 5 g with cold-chain dispatch or as lyophilized vials of 5 mg and 10 mg in kits of ten. Two public batch records are listed for it in the Pepti COA library, each giving an HPLC purity result, a molecular-weight result and the test and retest dates.
Also known as Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, ACTH(4–7)-PGP. Supplied by Bulk Peptide Works, manufactured by Pepti, Guangzhou.
Naming
Which Semax the CAS number describes
Semax is a linear peptide of seven residues, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, registered as CAS 80714-61-0 and indexed on PubChem as CID 9811102 with the formula C37H51N9O10S and a molecular weight of 813.9 g/mol. The first four residues are the same as positions 4 to 7 of adrenocorticotropic hormone, and the last three are the tripeptide Pro-Gly-Pro, which is why the literature sometimes writes the name as ACTH(4–7)-PGP. Both names, and the plain sequence, point at the same molecule.
The registry number describes the free peptide with an unmodified N-terminus and a free carboxylic acid at the C-terminus. Variants sold under similar names with an acetyl group at the N-terminus, an amide at the C-terminus, or both, have a different formula and a different mass and are not what CAS 80714-61-0 denotes. If a supplier offers one of those under the plain name, the molecular-weight result on the certificate will not match 813.9 g/mol, and that mismatch is the quickest way to catch the substitution. Write the CAS number and the sequence on your purchase order so there is no room to interpret the name.
One residue deserves a note for anyone who will hold the material for a while. Methionine, the first residue, can oxidise to its sulfoxide, which has a higher mass and separates from the main peak on a reversed-phase chromatogram. The two public records report purity results of 98.8% and 98.7% for the parent peptide, which means the oxidised form, if present, was a minor part of the chromatogram when those lots were tested. How that is kept true over time is a storage question, covered further down. What the peptide is for is not covered anywhere on this site; the page is about identity, paperwork, format and logistics.

Documentation
Reading a Semax batch certificate
A Semax lot is released against a certificate of analysis that carries the lot number, the HPLC purity of the main peak, the mass spectrometry result for molecular weight, the manufacturing date, the test date and a retest date. Two lots are currently public in the Pepti library, one filled at 5 mg and one at 10 mg, with purity results of 98.8% and 98.7% respectively. Those figures belong to those two lots. They tell you what this production has reported so far; they are not a specification that a future lot is bound to meet, and the certificate for the lot you receive is the one your quality file should quote.
The molecular-weight result is the identity check. A figure close to 813.9 g/mol, read against the CAS number, confirms the peak is the unmodified heptapeptide rather than an acetylated or amidated variant or a sequence with a residue missing. The purity figure is the proportion of the chromatogram under that peak. Neither number speaks to the counter-ion, the water content, the fill mass of a single vial, residual solvents, endotoxin or sterility, and the public record does not claim to. A buyer who needs those results commissions them from an outside laboratory and files them against the same lot number.
The record can be read before any money changes hands. When stock is allocated, the quotation names the lot, and the entry for that lot is in the batch table on this page. A lot that has been produced but not yet listed is documented on an identical template and its certificate is sent with the order paperwork. How the whole documentation system works, including what is published and what is not, is set out on the quality page.
Ordering
Semax from first message to dispatch
Five exchanges, each of which can be filed against the lot.
-
Set out format, fill and quantity
Semax raw powder is quoted per gram from 5 g and travels cold-chain. Vials come in kits of ten and are quoted per kit, in the 5 mg or the 10 mg fill. A sample order means 1 kit (10 vials), and a private-label OEM run starts from 50 kits (500 vials). Asking for powder and a kit on one enquiry is normal when a buyer wants to see both formats from the same production.
-
Add the destination country and your document needs
The destination fixes the route and the packing. Say whether the batch record is needed before payment, whether the retest date should be confirmed in the quotation, and whether your own quality system wants the certificate in a specific format.
Import rules for Semax in your country are yours to confirm. The quotation describes what is supplied and does not advise on admissibility.
-
Compare the quotation with the lot record
The quotation identifies Semax by CAS 80714-61-0, lists the format, the quantity, the applicable lead-time window and, for allocated stock, the lot. Read the public record for that lot and check that the purity and molecular-weight results are what you expect before you confirm.
-
Confirm and wait the typical window
A sample kit is typically dispatched 3–7 days after specification and payment are confirmed. A production batch typically needs 10–14 days; for an OEM repeat batch the window is typically 14–18 days. The quotation states which window applies; none of them is a fixed promise.
-
Match the goods to the paper
When the parcel arrives, compare the lot number on each vial or on the powder container with the certificate, weigh what you can, and send material out for your own analysis if your process requires it. Raise any difference with the lot number and photographs so it can be checked against the record rather than against recollection.
Choosing between Semax powder and Semax vials
Both formats are drawn from the same production and documented the same way. The choice is about who weighs, who fills and how the units are tracked.
| Buyer situation | Usual format | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You fill your own containers or develop analytical methods | Raw powder from 5 g, per gram | A single weighed lot can be split into as many units as you need, in the container and diluent you choose |
| You supply sealed units to a number of laboratories | Vials, 10 per kit | Each vial is sealed, labelled with fill and lot, and traceable on its own |
| You are qualifying Pepti as a source for the first time | A single sample kit | The smallest order that still has a lot number and a public record behind it |
| You want Semax vials under your own label | A private-label run from 50 kits (500 vials) | Runs as a production batch and comes back on the OEM repeat-batch window when reordered |
Undecided buyers can ask for both on one enquiry. The supplier qualification checklist lists the questions to settle first.
Two formats for Semax
-
Raw powder
Semax as raw material
From 5 g per order, quoted per gram, dispatched cold-chain. The batch COA confirmed for the lot states HPLC purity and MS identity. Choose this when your own fill-and-finish or analytical work needs bulk material.
-
Lyophilized vials
Semax in finished vials
Fills of 5 mg, 10 mg per vial, ten vials per kit. A sample order is 1 kit (10 vials); private-label OEM starts at 50 kits (500 vials). Choose this when you need a finished, sealed unit per sample rather than weighed powder.
Public lot records for Semax
2 public lot records for Semax, with chromatographic purity results from 98.7–98.8%. Each row is one lot at one fill: the lot number, the fill, the HPLC purity result, the mass-spectrometry molecular-weight result and the test date.
| Lot | Fill | HPLC purity | MS molecular weight | Tested |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PEP260723-XA5 | 5 mg | 98.8% | 813.92 Da | 2026-07-29 |
| PEP260723-XA10 | 10 mg | 98.7% | 813.92 Da | 2026-07-29 |

Handling
Storage, transit and retest for a methionine-containing peptide
Semax is dispatched as a dry solid, either weighed powder in a sealed container packed cold-chain or a lyophilized cake in a stoppered, crimped vial. The retest date on the certificate marks when material still held should be examined again; it is not an expiry and it does not change what the substance is. Log the lot number, the date the parcel arrived and the retest date in your stock record on the day of receipt so the retest is scheduled rather than discovered.
Because the first residue is methionine, this peptide rewards care about air and light. Keep the container sealed, cold and dark, and open it only when it is actually needed. An opened container that is warmed and chilled repeatedly takes up moisture and oxygen with each cycle, and that is the handling pattern that later shows as a growing sulfoxide peak beside the main peak. None of this is guidance on use; it is reference-material handling, and the storage and retest guide covers the details.
Who this page is for
Three buyers this Semax page was written for
-
01
A laboratory adding a documented second source
You already keep Semax from another supplier and want an alternative whose batch record you can read first. Start with one kit, set its certificate beside yours, and compare the molecular-weight result and the purity before moving to powder.
-
02
A distributor pairing Semax with Selank
Semax and Selank are often stocked together because they share the Pro-Gly-Pro tail and are confused with each other on paper. Sourcing both from the same manufacturer gives you matching certificate layouts and one lot-numbering scheme. Quote them on one enquiry.
-
03
A brand owner planning a labelled run
You want Semax vials under your own label. The run is planned from 50 kits (500 vials), is documented lot by lot like any other batch, and takes the OEM repeat-batch window on reorder. Label and carton specifics are agreed once the quotation is in place.
What this page does not claim
Pepti does not present itself as a cGMP drug-substance (API) manufacturer or CDMO and does not publish a GMP certificate or DMF.
Semax is supplied for research use only and not for human or veterinary use. Nothing on this page describes an effect, a protocol or a use; a buyer who needs that information is on the wrong site.
Semax supply questions
Does CAS 80714-61-0 cover acetylated or amidated Semax?
No. The registry number denotes the free heptapeptide Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro at 813.9 g/mol. An N-acetylated or C-amidated variant has a different formula and mass and would show a different molecular-weight result on its certificate. Order by CAS and sequence if the plain peptide is what you need.
How many Semax lots have public records?
Two, one at 5 mg and one at 10 mg, with purity results of 98.8% and 98.7%. Each record gives the HPLC purity, the molecular-weight result and the test and retest dates, and both are listed in the batch table on this page.
Can the Semax batch certificate be sent before I pay?
Yes. For allocated stock the quotation names the lot and its record can be read in the library straight away. For a lot not yet published, the certificate is produced on the same template and supplied with the order documents, and it can be sent ahead of payment on request.
What is the smallest Semax order and how long does it take?
One sample kit, 1 kit (10 vials) in the 5 mg or 10 mg fill, or 5 g of raw powder. A sample kit typically dispatches in 3–7 days after specification and payment are confirmed; a production batch typically takes 10–14 days.
