Identity

MOTS-c by sequence, registry number and mass

MOTS-c is a synthetic peptide of sixteen residues written in one-letter code as MRWQEMGYIFYPRKLR, that is Met-Arg-Trp-Gln-Glu-Met-Gly-Tyr-Ile-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg. Its registry number is CAS 1627580-64-6 and its PubChem entry is CID 146675088, with the formula C101H152N28O22S2 and a molecular weight of 2174.6 g/mol. The name is an abbreviation of mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c, which describes where the sequence was first identified and is not a description of what the peptide does.

Two features of the sequence are worth a procurement reader's attention. The chain contains two methionine residues, at positions one and six, which is why the formula ends in S2; each can oxidise to a sulfoxide, and the oxidised species separate from the main peak on a reversed-phase column. The chain also contains three arginines and a lysine, so the material is commonly supplied as a salt and the weighed mass includes the counter-ion. If your work needs net peptide content rather than gross mass, say so on the enquiry so the quotation can state which basis it uses.

MOTS-c is one of the larger peptides in the range on this site, and the fills reflect that: vials are quoted at 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg rather than the 2 mg and 5 mg fills common for shorter chains. The rest of this page covers how a lot is documented, how the single public record should be read, the choice between powder and vials, how the material is handled in transit and storage, and how it is quoted. It does not say what MOTS-c does, and that is deliberate.

Documentation

One public record, and how to read it

Each MOTS-c lot is released with a certificate of analysis for that lot number. The certificate reports the purity of the main peak by HPLC, the molecular-weight result from mass spectrometry, the manufacturing date, the test date and a retest date. One lot is public in the Pepti library at present, filled at 40 mg, with a purity result of 99.13%. A single record is a data point, not a range. It shows what this production has reported for one lot, and the certificate for the lot you receive is the figure that applies to your material.

The 10 mg and 20 mg fills are quoted on the same terms as the 40 mg fill. A lot filled at either of those strengths is documented on the same template, and document availability is confirmed per lot on the quotation; the certificate may also be published to the library later, at which point the public count rises. Until then the 40 mg record is the one that can be read, and it is a reasonable guide to the format of the certificate you will receive for any fill.

The molecular-weight result close to 2174.6 g/mol, read against CAS 1627580-64-6, confirms that the main peak is the full sixteen-residue chain and not a truncated sequence. The purity figure is the share of the chromatogram under that peak. The record does not report water content, counter-ion, fill verification per vial, residual solvent, endotoxin or sterility, and it does not pretend to. Where those are needed the buyer commissions them from an outside laboratory and files the results under the lot number. The record is in the batch table on this page, and the quality page describes the system behind it.

Ordering

From a MOTS-c enquiry to a dispatched parcel

Five steps; each one yields a document that names the lot.

  1. Choose the format and the fill

MOTS-c raw powder is quoted per gram from 5 g and dispatched cold-chain. Vials are quoted per kit of ten in the 10 mg, 20 mg or 40 mg fill. The smallest order is 1 kit (10 vials), and a private-label OEM run is from 50 kits (500 vials). Powder and a kit on one enquiry are quoted together.

  2. State the destination and the documents

The delivery country decides the route and the packing. Say whether you want the batch record before payment, whether the retest date should appear on the quotation, and whether the certificate must follow a layout your quality system expects.

Import admissibility of MOTS-c in your jurisdiction is yours to confirm. The quotation describes the goods; it does not advise on regulation.

  3. Compare the quotation with the record

The quotation identifies MOTS-c by CAS 1627580-64-6 and lists format, quantity, the lead-time window and, for allocated stock, the lot. Read the record for that lot, or for a new lot ask for the certificate, before you confirm.

  4. Confirm and allow the window

A sample kit typically goes out 3–7 days after specification and payment are confirmed. Production batches typically take 10–14 days and OEM repeat batches typically 14–18 days. Each is a typical window; the quotation carries the one for your order.

  5. Reconcile goods and certificate on arrival

Check the lot number on every vial label or on the powder container against the certificate, weigh what your balance can resolve, and send a portion for independent analysis if your procedure calls for it. Any mismatch is raised with the lot number and photographs. The order photographs page shows how a typical parcel is packed.

MOTS-c: raw powder or vials

Both formats come from one production and carry the same style of certificate. The larger fills make the arithmetic a little different from shorter peptides.

Two formats for MOTS-c

  • Raw powder

    MOTS-c as raw material

From 5 g per order, quoted per gram, dispatched cold-chain. The batch COA confirmed for the lot states HPLC purity and MS identity. Choose this when your own fill-and-finish or analytical work needs bulk material.

  • Lyophilized vials

    MOTS-c in finished vials

Fills of 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg per vial, ten vials per kit. A sample order is 1 kit (10 vials); private-label OEM starts at 50 kits (500 vials). Choose this when you need a finished, sealed unit per sample rather than weighed powder.

Handling

Transit, storage and the retest date for MOTS-c

MOTS-c is shipped as a dry solid, as weighed powder in a sealed container under cold-chain packing or as a freeze-dried cake in a stoppered, crimped vial. The retest date on the certificate is the date by which material still in stock should be examined again; it is not an expiry. Record the lot number, the receipt date and the retest date in your inventory on the day the parcel is opened so the retest is planned rather than noticed late.

With two methionines in the chain, the container should stay closed, cold and out of the light, and be opened only when needed. An opened container that is warmed and chilled repeatedly takes in moisture and air each time, and that is the handling pattern most likely to show later as growing oxidised peaks beside the main one. That is housekeeping for a reference material, not a direction for use. The storage and retest guide goes further.

Who this page is for

Three MOTS-c procurement situations

  • 01

A laboratory that wants a documented alternative

You hold MOTS-c from elsewhere and want a second source whose certificate you can read first. Order one kit, compare its molecular-weight and purity results with the certificate you have, and move to powder if they sit where you expect.

  • 02

    A distributor adding a larger-fill line

MOTS-c sits alongside SS-31 in many catalogues, both quoted in larger fills than most short peptides. Sourcing both from one manufacturer keeps certificates in one layout; quote them on one enquiry and the longer window sets dispatch.

  • 03

A brand owner planning a labelled run

You want MOTS-c vials under your own label. A run of this kind is planned from 50 kits (500 vials); lots are released against a batch COA and reorders carry the OEM repeat-batch window. Label artwork and carton specifications come after the quotation, not before it.

What this page does not claim

Pepti does not present itself as a cGMP drug-substance (API) manufacturer or CDMO and does not publish a GMP certificate or DMF.

MOTS-c is supplied for research use only and not for human or veterinary use. Nothing on this page describes an effect, a protocol or a use; a buyer who needs that information is on the wrong site.

MOTS-c supply questions

Why is there only one public MOTS-c record?

Because one lot has been published so far, the 40 mg fill, with a purity result of 99.13%. Lots filled at 10 mg or 20 mg are documented on the same template and their certificates travel with the order; they may be added to the public library later. The certificate for your lot is the one that applies.

Which fills of MOTS-c are quoted?

10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg vials, in kits of ten, and raw powder per gram from 5 g. The 40 mg fill is the one with a public record today; the other two are quoted on the same terms and documented the same way.

Does the certificate state net peptide content for MOTS-c?

No. The public record reports HPLC purity and the molecular-weight result. Because the sequence carries several basic residues, the material is commonly supplied as a salt, and net peptide content is a separate request to make on the enquiry if your work needs it.

What are the smallest MOTS-c order and the typical lead time?

The smallest order is 1 kit (10 vials) in one fill or 5 g of raw powder. A sample kit typically dispatches in 3–7 days after specification and payment are confirmed; a production batch typically takes 10–14 days; an OEM repeat batch typically 14–18 days.
